IES Abroad Rome January Term

Titled \"From Pontius Pilate to Theodosius: The Advent of Christianity,\" the IES Abroad January Term Pogram in Rome allows students to study early Christianity and visit many of the archaeological sites associated with the early centuries of Christianity. The program includes several exciting features:

* A comprehensive orientation includes a guided tour of Rome to help students quickly adapt to their new environment
* Students take a course that allows them to examine the early Christian church, from the role that Pontius Pilate played in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, to the inception and adoption of Nicene Christianity through the Rome Empire in the fourth century.
* Field trips bring students to exciting destinations such as Naples and Pompeii.
* Shared apartments house three to five students and include a fully equipped kitchen.

The Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health invites you to spend three weeks studying food and nutrition in the beautiful region of Tuscany at NYU's La Pietra. An historic Florentine residence on a 57 acre estate, La Pietra is located on one of the foothills surrounding Florence, approached by Via Bolognese just one Roman mile from the city gate of San Gallo (today Piazza della Liberta.) It is surrounded by one of the most beautiful gardens in Italy, created by the Acton family who left the estate to NYU. The La Pietra estate serves as our home base as participants are immersed in a full experience of Italian food, diet, culture, and history.
