School Year Abroad Vietnam Contact:	Language acquisition will be a key component of the curriculum, and students will study Vietnamese in school while also living with a Vietnamese host family. Specifically, the SYA curriculum in Vietnam includes college preparatory coursework in English, Math, AP Environmental science, and AP Economics. Students will experience Vietnam's rapid economic growth in a major city; and through well-organized field trips the students will also observe Vietnam's ethnic diversity in the countryside. For those students interested in keeping up with languages studied at home, tutoring will be provided in Mandarin, French and Spanish. The service learning component of the program will introduce students to a variety of compelling projects. These may include teaching in orphanages and elementary schools, village water supply or clean-up efforts, micro-finance, or work to mitigate the lingering effects of "agent orange." SYA Vietnam also includes full credit in math, English, Vietnamese language and -- we hope --Spanish and French as well. These are full graduation credit courses.
