AFS Intercultural Programs
|
Year and Semester: You will attend public high school and your school placement will be based on your interests and academic achievements in one of the following subject tracks: sciences, technologies, social/economical, social/humanistic, languages/Literature, or visual arts. General subjects such as Portuguese, French, English, physical education, philosophy, and information and communication technologies are compulsory. Most schools also provide a Portuguese tutor who will help AFS Exchange Students learn the language. Few schools offer extracurricular activities, so students and communities organize their own activities including sports, arts, and hobby clubs. Intercultura-AFS Portugal also offers orientations and social gatherings throughout your stay.

You'll only be gone for a school year, but the experience will enrich the rest of your life. Living in another country for a year is something most people never have the opportunity to do. You'll return with new knowledge, cultural understanding, maturity and lifelong friends from your host country. ASSE programs are offered to you at cost.
