Year and Semester: Your class schedule and grade level will be determined by your host school, and will be based on your academic records and French language skills. You will either be placed in the last grade of college (the early years of high school) or one of the first years of the "lycee" (which bridges high school and college). The French school system is considered more demanding than the average U.S. high school, with classes running from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and sometimes on Saturday morning. The course load primarily consists of core courses such as French literature, history, mathematics, and science. Note: Semester students must have basic French language ability.
