AFS Intercultural Programs
|
Year: Students participating on the AFS Year Program to China are pioneers in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While your host school provides one or two months specially arranged intensive Chinese culture and language classes, you will live with a typical Chinese family, learn to speak Mandarin, share meals together, and gain an intimate understanding of Chinese life that few foreign visitors experience. School uniforms are required and classes are lecture style, with required classes in Mandarin, math, science, and physical education. While schoolwork can be rigorous, extracurricular activities will prove rich and equally rewarding. These may include studying traditional martial arts, participating in sports, or hanging out with your friends. All these activities will help you develop a unique understanding of today’s Chinese society.
