Although 25% of Costa Rica's land is legally protected, deforestation and unsustainable agriculture practices still threaten wildlife populations and natural resources. Students work with members of the community to examine alternative methods of development which balance economic needs with ecological limitations.

Experiment in International Living

Motivated high school students engage in challenging cross-cultural experiences for 3 - 5 weeks living as members of host families. Each program provides immersion in the daily culture of a single place and people. Edu-Culture International (ECI) - 7th, 8th and 9th grade Costa Rican Language Immersion

This program is designed specifically for current 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. Each student is given a placement test to determine his/her level and class size is limited to only 3 students. Classes take place Monday through Friday for 2 weeks, with lost of activities ad excursions during the day. Participants stay in a cozy dormitory setting with their chaperones. Group size is limited to 24 students and 3 full-time chaperones.

Travel to El Zota Biological Field Station in the heart of Costa Rica to learn about primate behavior in a spectacular rainforest setting. Journey to a tropical island on Panama’s Caribbean coast to continue your studies by examining primate ecology and threats to their survival in a biodiversity hotspot that has been called the Galapagos of Panama.
