Sea Turtle Ecology and Conservation

Students earn 3 credits in natural science through an experiential course which combines learning about sea turtle ecology, behavior, conservation efforts and collecting data for the Caribbean Conservation Corporation as well as completing a research project. Tag nesting sea turtles with local biologists, excavate sea turtle nests, learn field research techniques, and implement public education campaigns.

Conservation in Costa Rica

Located at a wildlife research station on Playa Ostional, three and a half hours south of our main base in Liberia, volunteers work alongside scientists at the camp to assist with the protection of sea turtles. This stretch of coast is the regular nesting site for hundreds of Olive Ridley and Hawksbill turtles and you may also be lucky enough to see the magnificent Leatherback turtle, the largest of all species of sea turtle.
