UAB offers four different program options to meet the academic interests and needs of a wide range of students: the General Studies Program, the Spanish Language and Culture Program, the Advanced Studies Program, and Direct Enrollment at the University of Barcelona. Both students with no previous Spanish language knowledge and those who speak Spanish fluently will be able to find the appropriate program at BCEA. Students must enroll in a 6-credit Spanish language course as well as choose from elective courses for a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

The Semester in the Mediterranean is a program based on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus that combines a traditional immersion study abroad experience with educational travel to Greece, Italy and Spain, with a co-curricular focus on Mediterranean cultures.

Students will experience Athens, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice and Barcelona on the travel component of this program. The travel component does not impact the classroom schedule and is combined with co-curricular material relating to Mediterranean culture.
