Boston University's Division of International Programs is the study abroad division of Boston University. With language, liberal arts, fine arts, science, business, engineering and internship programs in 21 cities in 19 countries on six continents, we offer an unmatched variety of study abroad opportunities for students from all majors and interests. Our job is to help students realize their dream to study and work abroad, and to do that we offer academic programs which successfully combine students' intellectual development with practical experience in life and work. Faculty and administration at Boston University are very serious about the important link between theory and practice. We work hard to create programs that respond to the needs of students, as they prepare themselves to make the transition from classroom to career in the new global community. In the past 25 years, more than 16,000 students from approximately 400 colleges and universities in the United States have participated in one or more of the many study abroad programs sponsored by Boston University around the globe.

Courses are taught at the Boston University Sydney Center by faculty drawn from leading Australian universities and industry. The Ecuador Tropical Ecology Program offers biology and environmental science majors the opportunity to spend a semester studying the vast and diverse ecosystems of tropical Ecuador through intensive hands-on experiences. The program consists of four ecology courses based on field research in the montane, tropical rainforest, and coastal regions as well as a Spanish language course. All courses are taught in English by faculty from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Boston University s Department of Biology. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 18 Boston University credits.

The Quito Language and Liberal Arts Program immerses advanced students of Spanish in the cultural and ecological diversity of the northern Andean country of Ecuador. Students directly enroll in the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and participate in fascinating, all-inclusive excursions throughout the country. University courses are taught in Spanish by USFQ faculty, and Boston University resident staff accompany students on all excursions.
