Program Overview

Program Description:
Salzburg College is a small, private institution specialized in offering quality international education programs in the US-American academic tradition. At Salzburg College classroom work, field study, and academic travel complement one another. All classes are taught in English, mostly by European professors, and you receive regular US credit for your academic work. Salzburg itself is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and safest cities in Europe. Surrounded by picturesque mountains, the city still mirrors in its historical center -- a declared UNESCO World Heritage Site -- more than a thousand years of European history and culture.

The program begins with a four-day academic trip through Bavaria that provides a hands-on introduction to the region as well as an opportunity to meet the other students. The trip includes visits to Munich and Neuschwanstein. Classes are small and students receive individual attention. Course work is offered in two six-week terms allowing students to concentrate on two or three courses of their choice. Classroom work and field experience are integrated. Excursions, guest lectures, and interaction with local professionals are an important part of the program. To support the overall Austrian experience, two courses are required of all students wanting to study a semester at Salzburg College: Understanding Austria: History, Politics and Culture and one German Language course.

Instructional costs, orientation, health insurance, fees, Bavaria and Vienna field trips, local excursions, course-related field trips, room, (Austrian home-stay), breakfast and dinner in families (Monday through Sunday), or dormitory (Monday through Friday, lunch provided by the College on days of instruction.)
