The Swansea University was founded in 1920 and is one of the six constituent institutions of the federal University of Wales. Swansea, with approximately 10,500 students, has the advantage of being large enough to support a wide range of academic and social activity while small enough to provide the sense of belonging and community often absent at larger institutions. The academic nature of the University is diversified, dominated neither by the Arts nor the Sciences.
