Semester at Sea sails three voyages each year for academic credit. Students collaborate with program partners such as the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, the Institute for Tropical Ecology and Conservation, the University of Panama, and the Earth University of Costa Rica, as well as with campesino, indigenous groups and local specialists to develop an understanding of complex issues including biodiversity and global change.
