Approximately 75 upper- and lower-level courses are offered in a variety of subject areas.

The Trent-in-Ghana program is part of the International Development Studies (IDST) curriculum at Trent University, the oldest IDST program in Canada. It combines third year level university course work in a developing country context with hands-on experience through a community placement. Courses are taught by Ghanaian professors at the University of Ghana-Legon (Accra) and the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) in Tamale.

The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies. While many programs focus on language learning and are conducted in the language of the host country, many others are conducted wholly or partly in English.

The program is offered in cooperation with Oslo University College (30 ECTS credits) in Global environmental management in Cape Coast, Ghana, West Africa. The course is taught through an interdisciplinary approach incorporating elements of sociology, economy, social anthropology, environmental studies, and political science.
