Archaeology and History in Egypt

The program, which takes place from January through March, emphasizes on site experiential learning. Students study the history and culture of Egypt's oases in a seminar setting in Dakhleh Oasis and through an extended field trip to Kharga Oasis. The seminar on Egyptian archaeology takes place in the Nile Valley at some of the most famous sites in Egypt and also at some archaeological sites that are off-the-beaten-track or even off limits to regular tourists. In February, while still in Dakhleh, students have the opportunity to participate in numerous facets of NYU's excavations at the Roman period town of Amheida (ancient Trimithis).

Western Michigan University
Civilization and Geology in Egypt

The course is an introduction to the geology of Egypt and the role of geology in the civilization and culture of ancient and modern Egyptians. The class will meet on campus during the spring semester for 1 lecture and 1 discussion/lab section per week.
There will also be a required 2 week fieldtrip to Egypt immediately following the spring semester .

Programs range from 2-3 week intensive courses to a semester or academic year abroad. Courses are available in more than 100 subjects, ranging alphabetically from aboriginal studies and aerospace engineering to western philosophy and women's studies.
