Semester at Sea sails three voyages each year for academic credit. Unlike traditional immersion programs, we give you a taste of the entire globe as you travel more than 24,000 nautical miles to as many as 12 off-the-beaten-path international destinations or to a fascinating world region for intensive exploration.

Studying the ocean and human interaction with the ocean, students undertake coursework ashore in oceanography, nautical science and maritime literature and history, followed by a practical component of hands-on marine science and blue-water sailing in the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean. Students are full participants aboard in the operation and navigation of a 134' brigantine with a scientific mission and ongoing student research projects. All programming is accredited and available for any major.

Take classes from native Cuban faculty at the Universidad de La Habana and participate in an array of cultural activities and study trips designed to encourage direct interaction with the Cuban people. Students are lodged in university hotel. Earn up to 16 credits. Program licensed by the U.S. Government and sponsored by Willamette University.
