Pacific Discovery Southeast Asia Program - cultural immersion, volunteer & community service, adventure expeditions, overland educational travel. Contact:	A 2-month program traveling overland through the diverse and friendly Buddhist countries of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, a melting pot of fascinating history, welcoming peoples, diverse cultures and dramatic landscapes. This program has a strong experiential education component, comprising hands-on volunteer work, opportunities for meaningful connections with local people, pushing personal boundaries, and gaining knowledge of Southeast Asia’s history, societies and environments, facilitated by our knowledgeable program leaders and is an excellent study abroad or gap year option for students or graduates wanting to be exposed to and immersed in cultures radically different to their own.
The Education Abroad Network South East Asia Comparative Semester (Thailand & Cambodia) Contact:	View all programs for this school Students will enroll in "Buddhism and Thai Society," "Sustainable Development, Environmental Justice, and Ethnic Minorities," and "Thai Language." while in Thailand. During this time, students will have the unique opportunity to volunteer teach novice monks English or spend time at a local orphanage. In Phnom Penh, students will study at the University of Cambodia and enroll in "Contemporary Cambodia: History and Society" and "Khmer Language." This portion of the semester focuses on Cambodia's recent history, including a focus on the Khmer Rouge. While enrolled in "Hinduism and Khmer Civilization," students have the opportunity to explore the sprawling Angkor complex.
