Program Overview

Program Description:

The International Summer School: British History & Culture, is a three week residential programme which runs from the 10th July - 30th July 2016, for students who have completed their first year of undergraduate university study.

This exciting summer school enables you to learn about British History & Culture and experience the excitement of student life in Manchester, England. During the programme you will expand your knowledge through lectures and seminars taken from across multiple subject areas such as: History, Politics, Multimedia Journalism and English.

Delivered by expert teaching and research staff, the summer school's cultural programme takes your learning out of the classroom and into the real world with guided tours and visits, providing an amazing and immersive experience. To ensure you make the most of your time in the U.K. we have a dedicated social programme that provides you with the opportunity to explore Manchester and some of the beautiful English countryside.

Students on our 2015 and 2016 programmes thoroughly enjoyed the range of topics covered on the school. The cultural visits to a traditional English country house, The City of Liverpool, home of the Beatles, and the picturesque countryside of the Lake District were some of our students favorite activities. This year, we have added even more to the programme and students can look forward to visits to the BBC's brand new television studios right here in Manchester, a tour of Manchester United's Stadium and a trip to the beautifully historic town of Chester!

The International Summer School is available as an accredited course or a non credit bearing course. Students on the credit bearing route will receive 15 MMU credits which equates to 7.5 ECTS. North American universities generally award 3 academic credits. If you are interested in taking the course for credit, please contact your institutions international office and we will be more than happy to assist.
