I. STUDYABROAD.COM OFFERS ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
AND SERVICE - MARK LANDON
StudyAbroad.com has been one of the most reliable and productive sources of leads for educational recruiters since its inception in 1995. Therefore, we are excited to announce a new service offering designed to convert more of those hard-earned leads into enrollments.
StudyAbroad.com has teamed up with edGenuiti Worldwide to bring a suite of new technology services to the study abroad student recruiting market. With upward pressure on meeting recruitment goals and downward pressure on budgets being the norm, edGenuiti's Student Suite is a perfect complement to your team's efforts to make the most out of each inquiry and lead.
The system allows for non-technical professionals to create customized online inquiry forms and applications. Student data is immediately captured into the system, and rules-based strategies are applied to ensure each and every inquiry is dealt with in the most effective, targeted way. Student Suite can also provide targeted emails, postal mailings, and telemarketing campaigns that are focused on reaching students at the right time with the right message.
Student Suite system users will realize faster, more consistent responses to student inquiries, ensure more focused/accurate communications with each student, and will do so with less time spent on follow-up activities. Students who send an inquiry are able to login to complete an application without having to retype personal information. Moreover, the system fully integrates the entire process, from inquiry through enrollment and beyond.
StudyAbroad.com, through its 'EDU Internet Strategies' division, will assist recruiters in customizing the Student Suite system to fit their needs in terms of inquiry forms, application forms, rules-based strategies, and every aspect of the recruiting process.
Perhaps most significantly, StudyAbroad.com has worked with edGenuiti to make this sophisticated software affordable to the study abroad recruiting marketplace. Systems of this type were previously only affordable to admissions offices at a cost that would approach or exceed six figures. We are pleased to be able to make this service available to study abroad programs for an affordable monthly fee.
Program providers interested in seeing a demonstration of the edGenuiti Student Suite should contact George Waldie at george@edudirectories.com or 610-499-9200.

II. IS YOUR WEB CONTENT WORKING FOR YOU? - JOANNE DAILEY
I always like to think of a website as a store display. When I walk through a department store, I expect to see the hottest items currently available on the market. Whether I'm in the home center department or the clothing apparel section, my human senses are looking for something new, interesting, and different. If I cannot find my desired item, I know I can easily visit another department store. So it is with the World Wide Web. When visitors click onto your website, they are not only looking for high-tech graphics or attractive page formats; they are looking for useful information. And I can guarantee you, if they don't find what they're looking for, they will look elsewhere - to another website. So how do you not only drive traffic to your site, but also keep them there? The answer is Zeitgeist, a fancy word which simply means the spirit of the times, or freshen your content and keep it current.
The World Wide Web has spawned an array of hybrid genres and continues to provide exciting opportunities for content developers. The dedicated web manager realizes the critical nature of consistent content maintenance for his or her website's success and that visitors to their site are content driven readers. A fundamental goal of any website should be to ensure the site's professionalism. This goal can be accomplished in various ways:
First develop a routine maintenance plan, either automated or manual. Sophisticated web technologies have afforded web professionals the opportunity to utilize programming languages such as JAVA, PHP, and ASP in unison with database software packages.
Additionally, the web manager may wish to delegate the task of checking links on his or her site. Nothing can frustrate a visitor more than visiting an informational website and clicking on links only to receive 'no server found' errors! Perform routine maintenance on applications such as search, discussion boards, subscription forms, etc. to ensure visitor usability, and stay abreast of current content management software packages.
Also, keep in mind, that unlike other forms of print media, web content is not routinely removed from the shelves or shipped to a recycling plant. As a web manager it is your sole responsibility to ensure that outdated content is removed from your site and replaced with fresh information.
Do not primarily rely on current information that you find appealing. Instead, also pulse your target audience as to what kind of information will suit their needs. And keep your content fresh! The World Wide Web is a densely populated highway so don't allow your site to become another pit stop along the way. Make your web content work for you!
