The NEW Studyabroad.com Directory
Studyabroad.com is in the process of redesigning our Directory pages. We arevery excited by our new design and functionality, as are our clients!
*Previously*
Studyabroad.com had two types of directory pages. The first page, also known as the "menu" of a directory, was consistent ofAdvertising. Hot buttons were featured on the right side of the page;a column with text links flanked from the left side. A link to the"Full Listing" of all programs was found at the top left corner. Thesecond page, the Full List, detailed all listed programs withina given directory. Studyabroad.com Directory client listings includeda blue text link.
*Presently*
Both pages have been rolled into one. The merge of these pagesreduces the number of user steps (i.e., ensuring a higher qualityuser experience) as well offering a better advertising venue toStudyabroad.com Directory clients. The way in which the listings arefeatured on each of the Directory pages is that Master Sponsorlistings are featured first, followed by a random sort of all Hotbutton listings, followed by a random sort of all Text Only listings, concludingwith a random sort of all General Listings.
*What this means for your program*
Instead of always appearing at a fixed location on a Directory page, therandom sort mechanism will mean that you could be displayed anywhere on thepage- not always at the bottom (not always at the top), but sometimes at thetop, middle, and lower level. This system ensures a far more judicious wayof allocating advertising space.
*Let us know what you think*
Please feel free to let us know what you think of the changes to theStudyabroad.com Directory. We want to hear from you - Give us a call(toll-free) at: 800-4040-EDU or e-mail us at: info@studyabroad.com.

In August, Secretary of State Colin Powell declared International Education Week to be held the week of November 12 - 16, 2001. This week is designed to promote international education and celebrate multiculturalism. Powell asked that during this week campuses, embassies and local communities hold cultural activities and find ways to celebrate International Education.
During this time, the need for international education and cultural acceptance is greater than ever. By teaching diversity and understanding, International Educators work to keep America's ideals alive. Secretary of Education Rod Paige referenced this point in a recent statement regarding International Education Week: "Knowledge about the culture and language of our neighbors throughout the world is becoming increasingly important in the daily lives of all Americans. The events surrounding the terrorist attacks of September 11 underscore that point."
Studyabroad.com encourages all campuses and International Education centers to hold cultural events throughout International Education Week. In honor of this week, Studyabroad.com has launched InternationalEducationWeek.com (http://www.internationaleducationweek.com). Here, you will find a cultural events calendar where any administratos may place their cultural event listings. The calendar lists cultural events throughout the year and will be featured on Studyabroad.com after the close of International Education Week.
In addition to the cultural events calendar, there is also find an essay contest for high school and college students as well as charity and international education information. The essay contest allows entrants to write an essay on multiculturalism. The winner will receive a study abroad trip provided by AIFS.
AIFS is the corporate sponsor of InternationalEdcuationWeek.com. The site is also supported by the Institute of International Education and NAFSA, the Association of International Educators.
